OH HI! I’m Allison, and Shark Tails is my blog. If you want learn more about what you’ll find around these parts, click here.
I hail from Atlantic Canada (a little province called Nova Scotia, to be exact), where I’ve lived my entire life aside from the six years I spent as an irresponsible expat teaching English in South Korea. It was an amazing experience, and afforded me opportunities (travel, paying off student debt, developing a love affair with kimchi) that have all positively influenced who I am today. When I returned home in 2013, it was with my three Korean pups and future husband in tow.
Would you just look at how wonderfully photo-shopped my face is in the picture above? Nary an under eye bag to be seen! (In real life I more closely resemble a jack-o-lantern, but let’s move on.)
I’m a recently married thirty-something, and I don’t like to brag but my husband is pretty legit. You can also see him in the picture above, looking more like a jack-o-lantern than he does in real life. Clearly all the photo-shopping efforts went into my face. (I’m kidding, you guys. He is handsome as hell and I love him an insane amount.) Some of my other great loves include my dogs (I am a big advocate of animal rescue), food (any and all), binge-watching Netflix (TV is my spirit animal), garbage picking (not as trashy as it sounds), and my ridiculous family (I have three sisters and two wonderful parents who I adore; and my Grampie is a damn National Treasure).
I love being sarcastic, swearing, and laughing at my own expense (and of course at the expense of others, let’s get real here). Since I married for love instead of money (do not recommend) a good bargain really does it for me. As in, let’s draw the curtains, pour some wine and turn up the Boys II Men does it for me. #thatescalatedquickly We recently bought the house across the street from my childhood home where my parents still live, and I started Shark Tails to document the process of turning this nineties throwback into our dream pad. I make a lot of mistakes and am incredibly impatient, so if you stick around you are in for some serious schadenfreude, I promise.
