Look, I am very, very new to the whole blogging thing. I like to think of myself as a fairly creative person, and after some encouragement from like, a ton of people (my sister), I dove right in — starting up Shark Tails without doing any research or looking into how I should be operating this little corner of the internet at all. I hope my brilliant, well-thought-out process isn’t too much for you to handle.
You’re obviously asking yourself, “Why ‘Shark Tails’?” and I can’t blame you. Simply, I named my blog after my dog Sharkie, ok? What an incredibly rock-solid marketing strategy: name your DIY blog after your dog. Epic. Why take the time to ensure the blog’s name connects with the subject matter, when you can just…not do that. So much simpler.
If only I wasn’t so impatient. But what’s done is done, and this is my DIY blog, Shark Tails. I still have a ton of stuff to learn about blogging (specifically photography and what is SEO and how to build up a following — you know, non-integral stuff) but so far am enjoying the process! In short, this space is a work in progress and hopefully, with a little more time, will become something I can really be proud of, rather than slightly embarrassed by.
My projects range from easy up-cycling of old junk (spray paint addiction, anyone?) to basic building projects, and everything in between. I would define my style as rustic/bohemian (I hate that word) without wandering into the ‘farmhouse’ realm too deeply, and I tend to shy away from ultra-modern aesthetics. I love wood, the color white, and old-lady floral prints. I am a true believer that just because something is expensive, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better; a lot can be done with a little bit of money and some of hard work.
So stick around, if you’re so inclined. I would love to hear from you, or connect on social media!
