I love spray paint. It has a wonderful way of solving all of life’s problems quickly and inexpensively.
Fact: green is my favorite color and I think that decorating with plants is a great way to make a space seem fresh and clean even when it’s dank and grubby. (Read: the current state of our house.) So I picked up a money tree (that’s Pachira aquatica for all you nerdlingers, I looked it up on Wikipedia) for $18 at Walmart, but it needed to be re-potted ASAP.
I had this old pot in the basement from one of my wonderful bridesmaids. She gave me an herb garden as a wedding shower gift.
I ate all the herbs, but they never grew again and just sort of died. (I tried, Whitney!) The pot was left outside for a few months and got rather weathered. I found the clay saucer in our garage after we bought the house. Enter: spray paint.
I went for a combo of Rustoleum gloss in navy and — SURPRISE — Krylon metallic gold using paint I already had on hand. There is nothing that does not look good with a bit of gold. NOTHING.
That’s it. I hope you weren’t expecting anything else because no.
A couple of minutes and I was left with a pretty new pot for my little money tree. I thought about doing some gold leaf on the pot itself, but then I remembered I have like 4 more seasons of Parks and Recreation to watch so you know how that goes.

Wow, a little paint goes a long way! I love this! I will definitely be doing little things like these when we finally move into our new home. Great way to save money too! Thanks for sharing 🙂
It sure does! I’m a bit of a spray paint addict. 🙂
